Editorial & Archiving Policy

Medical Technologies Journal (MTJ) adheres to the best international practices in scholarly publishing, including the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to read and comply with these policies prior to submission.

  1. Authorship Criteria & Responsibilities

In accordance with ICMJE recommendations, all individuals designated as authors must meet all four of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contributions: Significant input toward the conception, design, acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.
  2. Drafting & Intellectual Revision: Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
  3. Final Approval: Approval of the final version to be published.
  4. Accountability: Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that any questions regarding accuracy or scientific integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Corresponding & Equal Authorship:

  • Corresponding Author: Only one (1) author may be designated to handle all official editorial correspondence with the journal.
  • Equal Contribution: Dual first or dual senior authorship is permitted when two authors contribute equally to the work. This must be indicated on the title page with an asterisk (*) and noted as: "Author A and Author B contributed equally to this work."
  1. Peer Review & Integrity Protocols

MTJ applies a rigorous Double-Blind Peer Review workflow:

  • Reviewer Selection: The Editorial Team assigns expert peer reviewers and considers the three (3) external non-institutional reviewers proposed by the authors during submission.
  • Quality & Acceptance: Final publication decisions require consensus among reviewers and approval from the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Plagiarism Prevention: All manuscripts are screened using iThenticate to detect similarity, text recycling, or redundant publication.
  • Copyediting: Accepted manuscripts undergo native English technical editing to correct syntax, terminology, and typographical errors.
  1. Financial Declarations & Conflicts of Interest (COI)

All authors must declare any personal, financial, or professional relationships that could inappropriately influence their research.

  • Mandatory COI Form: Every author must complete and sign a Conflict of Interest declaration form prior to publication.
  • Funding Acknowledgments: All sources of financial support, grants, sponsorships, and institutional funding must be explicitly disclosed in the manuscript acknowledgments section and the COI form.
  1. Open Access & Article Processing Charges (APC)
  • Open Access Model: MTJ provides immediate, unrestricted open access to all published articles online at medtech.ichsmt.org and across partner digital libraries (e.g., Crossref, BASE, WorldCat).
  • Submission Fees: MTJ charges no fees for manuscript submission.
  • Publication Charges: Upon formal acceptance, an Article Processing Charge (APC) applies to cover copyediting, DOI registration, layout production, and digital preservation. APC details and available discounts are outlined on the [APC Page].
  1. Copyright, Licensing & Author Rights
  • Copyright Retention: Authors retain full copyright of their published work without restrictions.
  • Creative Commons Licensing: All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing users to read, download, share, and adapt the material provided proper credit is attributed to the original authors and journal.
  • Publisher Rights: Knowledge Kingdom Publishing holds the non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, and archive the final Version of Record.
  1. Data Privacy & Confidentiality

Names, email addresses, and personal information collected on the MTJ website will be used exclusively for the editorial operations, review process, and indexing of this journal. They will not be shared, sold, or made available to any third party for commercial purposes.
